2 Million Diners Seated by OpenTable via Mobile Apps

In a matter of months, OpenTable seated 2 million people from mobile devices. What does this mean? On-the-go mobile web participants are searching for local restaurants (among other things). OpenTable also estimated that the average check per diner was $50. That means that mobile applications generated over $100 million in revenue for restaurants using OpenTable. Thanks for the update, TechCrunch.

Restaurants are also very popular on Yelp, and guess where Yelp is? That's right, on mobile phones too. The issue with all of this is Yelp (and others) link to the restaurant's website. But the websites don't look good for mobile devices. That's because they were built for 17" monitors. Mobile consumers are tolerant right now. Those that take advantage of the mobile momentum can get ahead of the game.
